Testing…

Today in second grade we began Iowa/CoGat testing. It is brutal and a lot of testing. For anyone that doubts that testing is not healthy for kids, I share my statistics for my day in my room.

Kids in tears – 4 (yes completely different kids at different times)

Kids inserting themselves completely (heads and arms) into t-shirts – 2

Kids crawling under their desk and giving up – 1

Kids absent – 1

Kids who told me how much they HATE the test – 7

Kids who drew all over the test booklet – 1

Teacher exhausted - 1

I share this half joking and half serious as my brain watches the clock tick on hoping it will soon be an acceptable time to go to bed. The worst part of testing today, the heat… no air, warm weather means the temperature is going back up in room 201 and we are NOT ready for that. Only 4 more days…
